Garden Route Information:

The Garden Route is one of South Africa’s best-kept secrets and stretches along the N2 national road from the Western Cape to the Eastern Cape.  It is home to one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline anywhere in the world.

The Garden Route runs parallel to a coastline featuring lakes, mountains, tall indigenous forests, amber-coloured rivers and golden beaches. It is a mere 3 hours drive from Cape Town. However, domestic flights from most major local cities in South Africa to George Airport are also available. The name comes from the flourishing and ecologically diverse vegetation to be found in the region. It includes towns such as Mossel Bay, Wilderness, Knysna, Oudtshoorn (the ostrich capital of the world), Plettenberg Bay and Nature’s Valley (the finishing line of the world famous Otter Trail). The largest city on the Garden Route is George and is also the main administrative centre for the area.

This area is also well known for a large selection of fantastic golf courses, many of which are regarded as being the best in South Africa. Many of the courses have some of the most breathtaking views you could hope to have whilst enjoying a round of golf.

The Garden Route National Park, which connects the existing Tsitsikamma National Park’s ancient forests and wild coastline with the Wilderness National Park via a chain of lakes and preserved sections of Fynbos, is a fascinating and enchanting mix of ecosystems.

A wide range of leisure options, spectacular scenery and a mild climate guarantee an unforgettable holiday experience when visiting the Garden Route in South Africa. There are many places to see and encounter wildlife along the Garden Route or experience some fantastic wine farms from the Klein Karoo all the way to Plettenberg Bay.
